Jordan’s young baseball team, “The Ramblers,” met the New Prague Juveniles on New Prague’s eighty-foot diamond by the railroad bridge. With brilliant plays and nice batting the score was 8-8 at the end of the ninth. After four more innings the Ramblers won 10-9. The Ramblers team is Smith, Dennig, George Herder, John Jenny, Robby Rausch, Ben Rosendahl, Mich Lebens, Henry Jenny and John Hufman.

Lydia arrived late for their game with the Jordan Grays on the Omaha diamond. After a good, clean game Jordan won 8-3. Jordan Gray teammates are the Rosendahl Brothers, Joe Casey, Carl Herder, Albert Schneiderhan, Harold Varner, Phillip Schaefer, Art Rauschand, S. Busch.

While haying last Friday on his farm just east of Jordan Marshall Darlington, 55, was severely injured in a horse run-away. Highway 282 runs through his farm and guiding his team on the road the team became frightened and Marshall jumped off. He has a skull fracture and concussion, 3 broken ribs and many bruises. He is in the New Prague hospital.

The Brewers won the game against St. Peter 3-1 last Thursday, but on Sunday evening the Brewers lost to Belle Plaine 8-1 in the final River League game. Now to the playoffs when Jordan will meet Prior Lake.

Jordan Sawmill will resume operations on August 12 after having been closed since June 24 for conversion to gas for power as reported by Herb Trost.

The Jordan High School Band went to Le Sueur on Sunday where they participated in the Fun Day Parade. The band played their final summer concert on Saturday to a nice crowd by Jordan Hotel.

T.H. No 282 was given its first bituminous treatment last year from 169 in Jordan to the junction with Highway 13. It became so popular and used so heavily that the Minnesota Highway Department allotted reconditioning to the eight miles, one of the shortest state highways in Minnesota.

Tragedy struck the Jordan community Monday evening when a double fatality automobile accident took the lives of 2 well known Jordanians and for years active in many community affairs Mr. and Mrs. Frank Betchwars. They leave four children. He was 51, and she 44. The accident happened about 5:30 p.m. on a rain slicked county road 12, along the north shore of Spring Lake.

Lyle Schultz and Robet H. Busch have been chosen for inclusion in the 1972 edition of “outstanding young men of tomorrow.”

Presiding at the dedicatory ceremony held on the apron of the newly built fire station was Robert Nachbar. Honored guest was Carol Herder, a member of the department for 45 years, from 1903-1948, who was accorded the honor of cutting the ribbon, with Mayor Earl Hedstrom.

Linda Voigt & Connie Hennen were co-chairpersons for the Miss Jordan 1992 pageant to help stage this annual event. Miss Jordan 1991, Tiffany Schoenbauer, placed the crown on the head of Hannah Herzog, the new Miss Jordan 1992 at Lloyd’s last Saturday night. Selected 1st princess is Melissa Whipps; 2nd princess is Jessica Chalupsky; and Miss Congeniality is Martha McNamara.

Jordan’s very own German singing group “Singverein” was formed a year ago to promote the singing of German folk songs. Members are Marie Ries, Marion Pearson, Monica Pink, Wilma Lambrecht, Rotz Hart, Werner Hartman, Ambrose Busch, Dennis Gerold, Ed Breunig, Henry Allman and Jim Parsons. Corella Langhoff is the piano accompanist for the group.

The 69th annual state baseball tournament will be held in Jordan and Belle Plaine on three weekends. A Class B rundown of teams that are either in the 1992 state amateur baseball tournament or are earning their way, was drawn up.

The M.A. Gedney company of Chaska is the 7th largest pickle company in the United States.

The Jordan Brewers for the second straight week won two and lost one in section playoff action. Shakopee 1 Jordan 0; Delano 1 Jordan 14; and Chaska 3 Jordan 6. Ron Beckman reached a couple of milestones this past week as he played in his 500th Brewer game at Chaska and picked up his 700th Brewer hit in his four-hit game against Delano.
